Mark Young

The City of Bradford Council Member

Thank you to everyone who supported me and believed in the work ahead. I’m honored to now serve Bradford as a member of City Council.
As I begin this two-year term and take on the role of Parks liaison, my focus is clear: strengthen our neighborhoods, support our local businesses, and help make Bradford a more affordable, thriving place to live. That starts with honest conversations, practical solutions, and a commitment to building a community we’re all proud to call home.

A Commitment to Bradford’s Parks

Bradford’s parks are at the heart of our community—and I’m committed to making them better. As your Council liaison to the Parks Department, I’ll work to protect and improve these spaces so they serve everyone, now and into the future.

Our parks are more than just green spaces—they’re where our community gathers, kids play, and neighbors connect. As liaison to the Parks Department, I’m committed to making Bradford’s parks cleaner, safer, and more inviting for everyone.

That means pursuing grants and partnerships to improve and maintain our parks without increasing the burden on taxpayers. It means involving the community in clean-up days, new programming, and decision-making. And it means seeing our parks not just as city assets—but as a core part of Bradford’s future.

When our public spaces thrive, our city thrives. I’ll work to make sure our parks reflect the pride we have in our community.

A Community Conversation About Property Taxes

Bradford’s nearly 4% property tax rate is one of the highest in Pennsylvania—while the average income is only $29,1501. High taxes are making it harder for families to own homes, small businesses to thrive, and new residents to choose Bradford.

While I won’t have direct control over tax policy in my Council role, I believe in using my voice—and my vote—to push for responsible, community-backed solutions. That starts with open dialogue, real transparency, and a plan that works for all of us.

Lowering taxes won’t be easy, but it is possible. With careful budgeting, outside grant funding, and smart growth, we can begin to relieve the burden on residents while protecting essential services.

I’m committed to starting that conversation—and keeping it going.

Rebuilding Bradford, Together

Bradford is facing real challenges—but we also have real potential. To move forward, we need more than ideas—we need a community-wide commitment to action. That means listening to each other, showing up, and working side by side to take care of the town we all call home.

Whether it’s tackling high property taxes, revitalizing our neighborhoods, or making the most of our parks and public spaces, we can’t fix Bradford alone—we have to do it together. That kind of change takes renewed energy, shared vision, and a belief that our city’s best days are still ahead.

Let’s reconnect. Let’s reimagine. Let’s rebuild Bradford—together.

Smart Infrastructure, Stronger Community

We can’t rebuild Bradford’s future using yesterday’s systems.
To make real progress, we need modern, transparent, and connected infrastructure—not just in our roads and utilities, but in how our city operates. That means stronger online tools, easier access to information, and an organized system that helps residents and businesses engage directly with local government.

Fixing Bradford’s infrastructure starts with fixing how we communicate and plan. When we make data, resources, and updates accessible to everyone, we empower our community to take part in rebuilding what we’ve lost—and to build smarter for the future.

By pursuing grants, partnerships, and technology-driven solutions, we can upgrade what’s broken without adding pressure to taxpayers. Infrastructure should serve people—by saving them time, improving transparency, and building trust.

Local Business, Local Strength

Bradford can’t thrive without strong local businesses—and they can’t thrive without support. Let’s create a city that backs its entrepreneurs and rewards the people investing in our future.

Bradford’s small businesses are the heartbeat of our community. They create jobs, bring life to our streets, and keep money circulating right here at home. But too many are struggling under the weight of high costs, aging infrastructure, and a shrinking customer base.

We need to make it easier—not harder—for people to start, grow, and sustain a business in Bradford. That means lowering barriers, improving foot traffic, and fostering a business-friendly environment that encourages innovation and local investment. It also means listening to our entrepreneurs and making sure their voices are at the table as we shape Bradford’s future.

If we want a vibrant, thriving city, it starts by investing in the people building it every day.
